In keeping with the culture and values of the Opitciwan Atikamekw Council (OAC), the Assistant is responsible to the Opitciwan Atikamekw Social Protection Director for the application of the OASPA, clinical trajectories, intervention mechanisms and the development of prevention and social protection services. It ensures compliance with the guiding principles and service standards set out in the OBSIA. With a view to standardizing and integrating the clinical practices provided for by law, as well as the management and organization of work, he works with the Opitciwan Atikamekw Social Welfare Director and the Opitciwan Social Services Director to ensure that the objectives of his service sector are met. He/she must work in concert with other departments and external partners.

He organizes, directs and supervises the human resources under his responsibility. He advises and supports the Opitciwan Atikamekw Social Welfare Department and the Social Services Department. He actively contributes to the coordination and improvement of prevention, social protection and social services. He represents the Opitciwan Atikamekw Social Welfare Department in dealings with government representatives, the general public and other organizations. He is a member of the management team.

Assisting the Opitciwan Atikamekw Social Protection Department

- Contribute to the smooth running of the organization's activities and to the maintenance of a work climate based on mutual assistance, collaboration and skills development;
- Collaborate in the development, implementation and updating of policies, rules and procedures relating to the provision of prevention and social protection services;
- Contribute to the planning, organization and coordination of the sector's activities;
- Ensure compliance with the clinical trajectories, intervention mechanisms and tools set out in the LPSAO, as well as the systematic use of client data management systems (MYLE social and others);
- Ensure that all deadlines and procedures are respected within the framework of the OASPA and the YCJA;
- Advise on clinical orientations in the social welfare sector;
- Follow up on activity reports for prevention and social protection services to be produced by staff under his/her supervision (coordinators, revisers, clinical advisors and evaluators);
- Recruit, supervise, mentor and mobilize the department's human resources;
- Promote and ensure employee health and safety in the workplace;
- Ensure follow-up of clinical files by staff under his/her supervision;
- Advise and support coordinators in the day-to-day management of their respective departments;
- Collaborate in the development and implementation of professional development plans for service coordinators, professionals and stakeholders in his/her sector;
- Act as delegate/representative of the Director of Social Protection, with his agreement.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of services and the development of the Atikamekw intervention model.

Hiring requirements (education, experience and special skills) :
- Bachelor's degree in social sciences: social work, criminology, psycho-education, or other job-related field;
- 5 years of experience deemed equivalent in community intervention;
- Knowledge of community services structure;
- Knowledge of the Opitciwan Atikamekw Social Protection Act (OASPA);
- Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA);
- Knowledge of provincial and federal legislation governing child and family services;
- Knowledge of or experience with various client issues an asset;
- Knowledge of and experience with First Nations communities an asset;
- Knowledge of and interest in all aspects of Atikamekw culture;
- Specific knowledge of the social services sector, the structure and organization of all services as well as the related environment and networks;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook;
- Understanding of the Atikamekw and French languages;
- Valid driver's license;
- Own a motor vehicle;
- No criminal record related to the position.
